If you’ve never been to Marine Supply & Hardware on Commercial Ave. in Anacortes, you’ll still have a chance to come find a part for your boat or browse the incredible array of marine gear housed here, as the store is set to get new owners next year.
According to GoAnacortes.com the store, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, will officially change hands on January 1, 2017.
Former owner Steve Demopoulos has been looking to sell the store and its vast inventory for over a year and found buyers in Roy and Lea Mayberry, who own Alley Cat Antiques.
The building that Marine Supply resides in is owned by the Port of Anacortes and the Mayberrys will rent the space from them. They are planning to retain the current staff and will rearrange the store and move Alley Cat Antiques into the southern end of the building. Another entrance will be added at the south end and each section of the revamped store will have its own staff and cash register area. But, according to Lea Mayberry, customers will be free to move between the two businesses.
